What to Eat When You’re Pregnant: A Week-by-Week Guide to Support Your Health and Your Baby’s Development by Dr Nicole Avena

Do you realise the profound impact your diet during pregnancy has on your developing child?

I really struggled to know what to eat when I was pregnant and until recently I didn’t realise just how much the food I ate affected my unborn babies. I wish I knew what I know now, I really do.

Luckily my friend Dr Nicole Avena has written a brilliant book that takes the guesswork out of what you need to eat:
What to Eat When You’re Pregnant (Random House/Ten Speed Press)

This is a MUST HAVE and MUST READ healthy eating guide for women who are pregnant, hope to be, or have just given birth. It offers sound advice and week-by-week nutrition info on what Mom and baby need to develop healthy. It also has some great, easy to make recipes by Georgie Fear, RD.
I reviewed the book, and it is amazing!
For those of you that don’t know, Nicole has a PhD in Neuroscience and Psychology and is an Assistant Professor at Mount Sinai in NYC. Her lab studies appetite and how what we eat affects our brain (even during pregnancy). Part of what is great about this book is that is it research based, and it sifts through a lot of the rumors and vague info that is out there about nutrition needs during pregnancy.

Also (as an added bonus), Nicole is a Mom herself and has just given birth to her second daughter.

Please check it out and spread the word!

Great health starts as soon as we start developing.
It is a great source for new moms, and would be a great gift. It is available wherever books are sold, and online (Amazon, Barnes and Nobles).
